FIELDS FLOWERS AND SKIES
There
were several vehicles at the beginning of the different pathways, but Hayden
began to think that these were really just people using the place for
car-pooling. Convenient. Mid way between the country and the city. And nobody
could ever ‘call’ one on it when it came to by-law or owners and so on- as
nobody would be able to tell a dog walker or joggers car from someone who just
parked and left. The fields, being fields, are open.
Hundreds of little insects,
- red and grey and all other assortments, work in the air and around flowers. The
main beginning curves into a long sort of causeway and it’s like the beginning
part of a jog or run. To the right, far away, can be heard the reports of a
shooting range, and these sound like thunder. There is a wild cat that calls
out, and a bird also,- plus the sight of a farmers crops that wait patiently in
summer under the
sun and heat, and sleep deeply I suppose in the winter under
ice and snow and what feels moreso like moon and night (even in the days). Left
is more of the fields, and there was once a porcupine there but for the most
part there is little trees and wild flowers.
Continuing
onwards, there are wild green beans that have grown so abundantly they are
crawling over in parts evergreen trees. It is a strange sight for certain and
an interesting mix, - the light green against the dark hued pine needles. A
forest entrance is at the corner…it is cool, alluring, wonderful, .to just stand
there and look in, - to see the entrance to yet another world of possibilities and
adventures. But, for then, the pathways are stuck to. It rains lightly, and the
way is traversed slowly, methodically. Butterflies roam around.
It’s pretty, and pretty empty.
The
light sun shower feels cool against the arms. There is a wish that it would
rain even more. The sun takes
away the rain it seems, and things become hotter.
There are two apple trees, - one with red apples and one with green. Up the
way, wild grape vines grown in labyrinthine and intricate mazes and
configurations upon themselves and up to the sun. Hayden stares into them,
separating them a bit,- and admires the dark and shaded and cooler areas,-
wondering if there is some kind of secret insect or animal or other growth
hiding in there amongst the leaves and berries.
He can
see the light out the other side.
Moving
his head and hands back, - he goes onwards and the dogs run, frolic,
play,
pause, think, generally exercise and also smile. They all go to look at bright
yellow wildflowers in the sun,- and the sky is blue, and the day is clean, and
they are content and will be all three later on a good tired and in need of
rightful and rejuvenating rest.

The trails you show in your photos are so inviting, and the images are so clear that I imagine I might just rise from my chair, walk into your world and be your personal companion for awhile. Also your commentaries invite the reader to walk out into the world and explore the physical details with a heartfelt acuity and intimacy. The top photo is surreal - virtually walkadelic. "a visual shroom online."
