OSHO RIGHT AND THEN WRONG AND THREE PHASES OF ASTROLOGY
In the
first phase, as I read in an Osho discourse, and I agree with, one is ruled by
the planets. Osho said that those who believe least in the stars, are destined
to be completely controlled by them.
In the
second phase (my term), he mentions somewhere else about the transcendence of
the stars or their said influence. When his chart was cast at birth, the
astrologer said he would face death every seven years, and would not live past
the age of 14 or 21 if he did not live away from his immediate birth family.
After enlightenment, he told someone, something to the effect of, Go notify the
astrologer. Tell him to come. I have awakened, and therefore astrology will not
work on my anymore. I am my own. (I paraphrase a bit).
(though
I believe this to the extent that it is beyond, say, Gurddieff, or some fourth
or fifth stage realization where there is self-actualization, realization, a
large amount of awareness, how can it be completely true that there is no
influence for some person if enlightenment as it is defined here means there is
no longer a person there.
I believe
that can be likened to a sixth stage out of seven. (IMO. Humble Belief. Idea.)
In a
third phase, the seeker would no longer exist, and therefore, oddly enough, -
Osho is now wrong, and does not apply, meaning the person would be an apparent body-mind
like some modern or neo- nondualty nomenclature calls such, and whatever is
appearing, being really, as wholly as possible while physical, and
existentially the ‘Whole’ or ‘Source,’ and be therefore subject again, having
died in a way, - to the laws of nature. And if astrology is correct, then that
body-mind would be completely governed by astrology. This is what Osho missed.
He was still talking about a form of willpower, however subtle or spiritual, as
consciousness separate from nature.
Far enlightenment
is like atheism. It is useless, there is nothing it can take or give saves for
whatever is going on, and it definitely appears as silly, and like nothing
whatsoever ever happened.
Maybe
that is is where the popular saying in the canon comes from, in Zen, - Before
enlightenment, chop wood, carry water, after enlightement, and chop wood carry
water.
In our
modern times, a truly enlightened person would not appear like a spiritual
idea, but would be doing whatever, as before,- drinking coffee, eating Big
Macs, smoking cigarettes, using profanity, making all kinds of mistakes, doing
nice things, doing bad things, getting a cold, having an allergic reaction,
fixing a flat tire, worrying about taxes, fixing a plumbing leak, stubbing a
toe, having a horrible week, having a great afternoon, being bothered by
extreme heat and feeling oppressed, then enjoying a light and whimsical breeze
in a field, and so on,- the playing out of destiny.
No
free will. Just the appearance of it. From the outside. And to the person as
tool used to go though the apparent world, from the inside.
A true
shift, or awakening, if there is such a thing, is a bit useless, very prosaic
once it is settled, definitely not believed in never mind valued in a modern
society, impossible to verify, and unromantic, non-spiritual.
A horn
honks outside. The writer thinks, So lacking in class anyone that honks, and
does not get out and knock somewhere.
But, then the thought comes in that in
the larger scheme of things, it is just a sound in the street.
